I had a few candles with me and I dearly wished that my candles could fly. I hoped they could soar high in the sky and provide light to everyone. The gentle light to some,and the fiery one to others. So I thought of giving my candles a pair of wings.
The next day I bought a set of flamboyant silver wings and asked them to put them on. They did as I had told them. They looked marvelous. The silky wings embraced the smooth wax so fondly that they became one with each other. My candles looked perfect .But looks aren't as important as the purpose. I had given them wings so that they could fly and spread the light .So I asked them to flap their wings and set out on their goodwill journey. But my candles decided to disobey me because they were too lazy to flap their wings. I guess they had my genes.
I got angry and ordered them to fly but they were stubborn .I begged and pleaded but they wont melt .Finally I threatened to take off their wings and miraculously,they agreed to sweat .At that moment I came to know that my candles loved the wings more than their cozy candle stands .Relieved and filled with pride over the fact that I had mastered over my candles ,I readied them for their maiden flight. I brushed their wings and lit their wicks.And now they were good to go .
My candles flapped their wings for the first time and there they went lifting off the ground, reaching for the dark sky . Only when they had left the ground they realised the true pleasure of flying and the joy of sharing your light .My candles started loving this feeling. I was happy to see my candles rise and glide .Now my heart was at peace.I had fulfilled my purpose, I had given my candles a purpose.
But then I thought ,will darkness ever befall on us if everyone in this world decided to give their candles a pair of wings. And suddenly I had a new purpose in life .
PS : In this post I have imagined my 'talents and abilities' to be the candles and the wings represent 'my desires and my aim in life' . So in a way this post is about the desire to enlighten the world through your talents .
